Action: After being under heavy enemy fire in a forward position on 18 January 1944 near Kyauchw, Burma, Lieutenant Horwood returned to his own lines during the night with important information on enemy troop movements. On 19 January 1944 Lieutenant Horwood returned to the forward position and fired some mortar grenades at the enemy. By doing so he was drawing enemy fire upon him and his own troops were able to locate the enemy positions exactly. On 20 January 1944 Lieutenant Horwood volunteered to be in command of a considerable operation. However he was killed in action some time later.
