BIOGRAPHY: 
At age 17 as a seaman, Harold Archer joined a small vessel sailing from Newcastle.
In due course he was promoted and captained tankers of the Eagle Oil Company. He was married in 1918
In WW2 he sailed with convoy HX-84 in October 1940 from Galveston Texas. He also served on the notorious convoys to Russia. He was torpedoed once during the 1939-45 war.
He had a nephew holding the rank of third mate on a vessel of the same company
