The Krim Shield in gold is made from real gold and the design is equal to the bronze version. This golden version was only awarded twice. The first awarding took place on 03-07-1943 in Bucharest and it was given by Generalfeldmarschall von Manstein to the Commander in Chief of the Rumanian forces Antonescu. This was in recognition for the part that the Rumanian troops played in the conquest of the Crimea. The second awarding was on 24-11-1943. On this date Generalfeldmarschall von Manstein received the Crimea Shield in gold from his staff members for his birthday.
